Quartz is also called Rock Crystal, and consists of Silicon Dioxide.  Many other crystals also also predominantly Silicon Dioxide, but geologically have attracted different names, such as Citrine and AmethystClear, Lavender, Rose, Rutilated, Smokey, Strawberry and Tourmalinated Quartz are also shown individually, below.

Quartz exhibits piezo-electric effects, producing an electric impulse and field-change when stressed.  This characteristic is used in 'quartz watches', with a small quartz crystal being used to resonate at a precise frequency to maintain accurate time.

Quartz is also responsive to body-energy and thoughts, generating clarity in thought which can be focussed for use.

The 'stone of power' produces harmony, and alignment of human energies with universal ones.  For this reason, quartz facilitates communication with the spirit world, spirit guides, teachers, and healers.

Quartz is also responsive to sound, but also can translate other energies, such as thought-energy into sound, affecting the environment with its resonances and vibrations.

It can be used to provide energy to, balance, and protect an environment.

Quartz can be used to activate all chakras, although is particularly useful with the Crown and Third Eye chakras.
